The Adult Learning Center is hosting an ALC tutor training for individuals interested in tutoring Mesa County residents in the following areas: English language learning, basic literacy skills, math, GED readiness, and citizenship. No previous teaching experience is required for tutoring in the ALC. This training goes over the history of the ALC, the challenges adult learners face, and the importance of cultural humility. This training is one requirement for becoming an ALC tutor; interested tutors must also pass a background check, interview with the Volunteer Coordinator, and shadow a current ALC class. Please contact Allison Troy (970-683-2443) if you have additional questions or interests. You can learn more about ALC student experiences, and the tutoring experience, here: https://
